“I have always said that God was unfair to women, giving them the most complex body under the shadow of granting them the power of creation.” Woman bear the incredible gift and responsibility of nurturing life within their beings, yet this privilege is intertwined with innumerable physical complexities that can impact their well-being. Amidst these challenges, women demonstrate remarkable resilience, strength, and fortitude. They juggle roles as nurtures, caregivers, leaders, and pillars of strength, all while facing the intricacies of their unique physiology with grace and resilience.
On this International Women’s Day, we reflect on the journey of women through history, acknowledging the challenges they have faced and the progress they have made. It is a day to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women worldwide.
It is unfortunate that though ‘man’-kind has evolved gender equality is still a work in progress. At least now there is a shift towards using more inclusive language, such as humankind or humanity to better reflect gender equality. Even Star Trek changed its opening lines from “to boldly go where no man has gone before” to “where no one has gone before”. The mere fact that there are discussions around gender equality shows that humanity itself is a work in process. This should be a fundamental principle upheld and universally practised.
Despite the historical and ongoing challenges, today’s women are breaking barriers and proving their capabilities in every field. In the realm of business and finance, women are making strides as strategic visionaries. Woman have proven their mettle in politics demonstrating astute decision – making and governance skills. Likewise in the fields of medicine, research, sports, astronomy, culinary skills woman have showcased remarkable expertise, innovation and excellence.
To my wife and daughter, and to all the incredible women who inspire us with their light and strength, Happy International Women’s Day!!
